Mr. Drake is a singer. He sways his body when singing in order to make up for his poor voice. Therefore his performance is always greeted by boos and jeers. Once, Mr. Drake held a solo concert, to which Mr. Goose, a famous authority in the music world was invited.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” Mr.Goose addressed, “Mr.Drake is a born singer, a singer of pure timbre and great compass, making him a master at the art of singing. Here I wish the concert a full success. ”
Later during the performance, it was continuous clapping, rather than catcalls and boos that responded to Mr.Drake’s husky voice.

八十年代，有一位姑娘号召：1.70米以下男人均为“残废”。于是全国未婚女青年纷纷揭竿而起。
我细细量过九十九次自己的标高，实属“终身残废”系列。
但那是年少血旺气盛，誓与凡俗抗争到底，于是连哄带骗，将一净高1.74米女孩拐回家做起了太太，这一壮举颇为“残疾人”们扬了一段眉，吐了半口气。
将太太置回家中后，我才意识到我的悲哀，这一愤世之举不仅未了我“终身残废”，而又平添了“终身遗憾”。我从未享受过将男人坚定有力的胳膊，窝勾着太太娇媚柔滑的后脖子上街遛弯的幸福。
这一幸福对我来说，不仅意味着双脚要离开这生养我的土地，而且神圣的肚脐亦将昭之于众。
现在，每每出门，高扬的手臂牢牢地挂在太太肩头，其状如猴子紧紧趴着电杆，任凭太太在马路上将我拖来拖去。。。
痛苦的我常常痛苦地想，如果能重活一回，我再也不与世俗去抗争，因为与世俗抗争是要付出代价的。

Lifetime regret
In the 1980s, a girl raised a slogan: Men less than 170 cm tall are ‘disabled’. Later, in response to her advocating, single young women across the country joined the campaign，one after another.
I measured my height carefully for 99 times, only to find myself definitely belong to the category of ‘permanent disability’.
But then, I was in my salad days, impetuous and stubborn, determined to fight against the very prejudice to the end. As a result, I managed to cajole a girl, with a clear height of 174 cm, to becoming my wife. This feat of great daring considerably enabled my fellow ‘disabled’ friends to hold their heads high.
However, I didn’t realize my woe until I brought her home. My cynical conduct didn’t put an end to my ‘permanent disability’, but rather brought me the ‘lifetime regret’—I have never really enjoyed the happiness a man would feel when he wraps his strong arm around the fine and smooth hind neck of his wife, strolling along the street.
For me, to pursue such kind of happiness means that not only my feet will have to be lifted a certain level over the land that has given birth to me and reared me up, but also that my sacred navel can no longer hide its humble appearance from anyone’s watchful eyes.
Now, every time we go out, my high-lift arm would desperately hang on the shoulders of my tall wife, which looks as if a monkey is holding tight of an electrical pole. I cannot help but surrender to her dragging me about at her mercy.
As a man struggling in anguish, I usually think painfully that if I were to born again, I would never ever challenge the sacred world, knowing pretty well that I’m bound to pay a big price for it.
