2004年10月，凤凰卫视在晚间黄金时间八点档推出以历史题材为主的综合纪录片栏目《凤凰大视野》，开播伊始就引起社会各界的关注，受到广大观众的喜爱。此后，凤凰卫视在晚间黄金时间陆续推出历史题材纪录片栏目《口述历史》、《如烟往事》、《腾飞中国》、《中国记忆》，以及包含历史题材纪录片（节目）的栏目《冷暖人生》、《风范大国民》等，这些栏目在开播后均取得了良好的社会反响和不俗的收视率。在港台和内地两岸三地历史纪录片节目普遍不景气的强烈对比下，凤凰卫视历史题材纪录片（节目）的成功尤其值得关注。
本文将从传播学、社会学和电影学等视角对凤凰卫视的历史题材纪录片（节目）作综合全面的分析，以《凤凰大视野》、《口述历史》和《冷暖人生》为主要研究对象，采用访谈研究法和定性研究法，探寻凤凰卫视的历史题材纪录片（节目）出现的社会背景，论证凤凰卫视的历史题材纪录片（节目）能够获得市场上的成功的几大影响因素，总结出其成功经验，希望对华语历史题材纪录片从“萧条”走向“繁荣”起到一定的启发作用，为华语历史题材纪录片的发展提供若干思路。

In October 2004, Phoenix Satellite Television’s beginning to broadcast a history-themed documentary television program named Panoramic Eyeshot of Phoenix at its peak viewing time, namely around 8:00pm, drew great attention from televiewers of all sections of society, and enjoyed great popularity accordingly. From then on, Phoenix (short for Phoenix Satellite Television) released the following programs of the same theme one after another: Oral History, Beauty for the Century， Booming China，China Impressiont, as well as history close-related ones, like Secret Documentary, Passion On China， etc。
All these programs saw favorable social repercussions and a high audience rating, which were a striking contrast with the other television stations from mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, whose programs were of the same theme but of much much lower popularity. Phoenix’s big success on this point, is quite eye-catching, and thus much attention is needed to pay to.
With some knowledge of Communication, Sociology, and Film, this paper is going to give a comprehensive idea of how everything of the HTDTP (short for history-themed documentary television program) of Phoenix was going, like its social context of its emerging, major factors for its success, and things alike. Here, with a combination of the Methodologies of Event Study and Qualitative Research, we will take Panoramic Eyeshot of Phoenix, Oral history and Secret Documentary as the main study cases.
Hopefully, this paper will make some sense in how to improve the current depressed situation of HTDTP to a better one (prosperity in this area is expected), and provide some enlightening ideas on the development of it in Chinese-speaking world.
