到了成都，吃东西是很轻松的，尤其对那些有选择恐惧症的人来说，这里就是天堂。
成都人把临街的门面小店称为“苍烟儿”馆子，最早是取环境不太好蚊子苍蝇乱飞之意，后来衍生为一种朴素、价廉、美味风格的专用词。而那罗马柱成林、大理石随处可见、地板亮得可以当镜子的馆子，成都人叫豪餐，或者叫耍高档。
无论你去哪儿，进了豪餐，千万不要在意椅子是否用金丝绒加铆钉再镀了一层金。
入了“苍烟儿”馆子，也不要看不惯那种二三十年前单位里会议室的金属折叠椅，上面的人造革都起了皮，有的还翻起，露出一砣油兮兮的海绵。在豪餐，一定不要惊艳于服务员充满设计感的婀娜长裙，川西坝子浓情嗲意的蓉城软语。盆地气候湿润，阳光稀罕，光和作用少，语调自然低柔。当然，惹毛了的时候，也不会比赤道来的逊色。尽管这样，入了“苍烟儿”馆子也不要嫌弃那个脸上油光光、衣服脏兮兮、有时还扣错纽扣、穿得东拉西扯的店小二。进得豪餐，往金丝绒椅子一坐，纤细的手递上一份热腾腾的毛巾，往脸上一擦，很享受。再往小碟一放，得吓着，太讲究，装个毛巾都是艺术的，精致！但是，千万别拿这个跟“苍烟儿”馆子对比，人家店小二说了，用啥子毛巾嘛，一万多个人都拿来洗脸，有的还往上咳嗽，好烦哦。我们这儿是面巾纸，面巾纸晓得嘛，肯定比洗脸帕洋气噻。 |

It's quite comfy to eat in Chengdu. Particularly, for those who have choice phobia Chengdu is the paradise on earth.
Small restaurants facing the street are nicknamed "fly" chop house by Chengdunese. It originally referred to the unpleasant environment with mosquitoes and flies buzzing around and later evolved into a symbol of simplicity, low price and delicacy. As for shose restaurants decorated with Roman-style columns, marbles, mirror-like shiny floors, Chengdu people call them luxurious restaurants or exclusive places to show off.
Wherever you go, entering the luxurious restaurant, there's no need to wonder at the gilded chairs with pleuche and rivets. Likewise, entering the "fly" chop house, don't feel uncomfortable with the metal folding chairs used to be seen in the meeting rooms twenty or thirty years ago -- with leatherettes crumpled, some of which even reveal the oil-stained sponge inside. In the luxurious restaurant, you shall nnot be amazed at the delicate design of the graceful longuette of the waitresses and their tenderness of the local accent: accustomed to the humid climate of the Chengdu Basin and exposed to scarce sunshine, people tend to speak softly. But once pissed off, they will also turn as fierce as a storm from the equator. In "fly" chop houses, on the other hand, you shall not hold in contempt the filthy and untidy outfit of the waiter with face greasy and buttons occasionally ill-matched. In the luxurious restaurant, it is quite comfortable to be seated in a pleuche chair and refreshed by a warm towel rendered by slender fingers and later carefully placed in a plate -- so artsy that you cannot believe such a work of art is just a towel holder! whereas, be sure not to compare that with the "fly" chop house. Listen to what the waiter in the "fly" chop house argues: why bother using the towel by which hundreds of people have scrubbed their faces and some even have coughed on it? Here we have face tissues. Face tissues, don't you know? Surely more westernized than towels. |
