Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – Emma Watson
Will Hermione and Ron finally get together in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince? Emma Watson talked about the eagerly-awaited movie, which opens on July 15, during a break in shooting the final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
What is Hermione’s big moment in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince?
Hermione’s part in the next film is very much to do with Harry, Ron and a meek girl called Lavender, who has a bit of a crush on Ron. And Hermione and Ron finally get it together, and she confesses, and Ron as usual is completely insensitive and quite mean really. So it’s very much about how much she despises Lavender, not only because she’s taken Ron away, but she’s the opposite of Hermione. So it’s very comic, also quite a bit sad for her. Her part is very Ron-based, if that makes sense.
How would you say that Hermione has evolved during the course of these films?
Well, at the beginning Hermione was much more shy and much more insecure, and much more bossy, hardworking, nerdy, and the boys kind of softened her up, made her a bit more of a tomboy, probably relaxed her a bit. She’s one of the boys really.
When he was making the first movie, Chris Columbus said he looked for kids who could handle the acting and the fame that would come with it. How confident were you that you could handle that?
The funny thing is that I didn’t realized that I’d be famous, that bit never really occurred to me. It honestly never did, I was just auditioning for a part, and as far as playing Hermione was concerned I loved her character so much, I felt that I knew how to play her and that I could be her, and so with that part I was pretty confident, but the fame thing never really hit home. When you’re filming a movie you’re kind of in a little bubble and you don’t really realize the impact that it’s having on the rest of the world, and then you have some surreal moments like a premiere and you realize that you’re famous, most of the time I forget.
Looking back knowing what you know now, would you have said yes to doing the whole franchise?
I think I would have been very overwhelmed, but it’s been my life so I can’t really imagine it any other way. It’s made me who I am so it’s impossible to imagine what my life would have been like without Harry Potter.
Hermione is pretty upset and jealous with Ron in this one, how did shooting those scenes affect your relationship with Rupert when the camera turned off?
Rupert, if you’ve ever met him, is the most laid back, relaxed kind of person you’ll ever meet. He could not be more chilled out if he tried. So it had absolutely no affect whatsoever really. None at all.
How does it feel to be so close to the end of Harry Potter as it’s been such a big part of your life for so long?
I think it will be sad, I think it will be hard, but I think we’re ready to let it go now. But it will be tough definitely
In the future, when you look back at the making of this film what do you think you’ll remember about it?
Watching it, what really stuck out for me was Ron’s Quidditch scene that was so funny, I was in stitches, Rupert’s comic timing is just brilliant and he’s so funny. Making it, Jessie Cave, who plays Lavender Brown, we had a lot of fun together, and there’s a great scene where Hermione and Lavender are fighting over Ron and we had good fun doing that.
With Rupert having his first kissing scene, did any of you have fun poking fun at him?
Not really, he’s so laid back, he didn’t seem that embarrassed about it. Maybe he was. He’s just such a lovely guy. I certainly didn’t tease him about it.
For the first two films you had Christopher Columbus, but then you started having new directors come in for 3,4, and 5 – what is the difference from having different directors on the film, and now having David Yates, who is directing four films in a row?
It was always great to have a new director because they gave you something new every time. But David is a very great director and I think he’s done a really great job with it and when you get to know someone you can trust them, and it gives you more of a chance to try things out and experiment. I think the material is what gives me the challenge, there’s something different in every film.
What was your reaction when you read Deathly Hallows?
I was thrilled to be honest. I don’t think she could have done a better job. I think she ended it perfectly. It made me cry three times. I think she tied everything up perfectly.
How JK ended the whole story? In the final film do you want to play Hermione as the older character?
I would love to do it. I would love to play old Hermione. I think it might feel strange to play myself.
Do you think Jo will write another Harry Potter book?
I honestly couldn’t tell you, I don’t know how she feels about it. I think she won’t for awhile, I think she probably needs a break, but maybe, who knows, never say never.
Do you think fans of the book will be happy with the way it turned out?
I hope so, I think that we’ve kept as close as we possible can without making a 10 hour movie.
Once Harry Potter’s finish, what are you plans and your hopes for your future?
At the moment I’m very excited about going to University, and I’m very young so anything is possible for me, I’m keeping my options open.

随着故事情节的发展，你认为赫敏在这一系列电影中有什么变化吗？
刚开始的时候，赫敏是一个很害羞，很没有安全感的女孩，她很专横，学习很用功，是个书呆子，跟哈利和罗恩在一起倒让她变得柔和一些，所以她更像是个假小子。
克里斯•哥伦布是第一部《哈利•波特》系列电影的导演，在挑选角色的时候他说过，他需要的是会演戏、能够应对成名所带来的压力的演员，那时的你有多自信认为自己有能力做到这两项？
有趣的是我从没想过自己有一天出名，真的从没想过。我只是很喜欢赫敏的角色，所以在海选时努力好好表现希望能够有机会参演。我感觉自己很清楚应该怎样诠释这个角色，所以在这一方面我还是很自信的，但是关于成名，自己真的没有想过。当你在拍摄一部电影的时候，你就像是生活在一个独立的气泡中，与外界隔绝，只有在做电影宣传的时候，比如首映式，
你才会从气泡中出来，才会意识到自己是个名人，大部分时间我都会忘记这一点。
如果你当时知道自己会成为公众人物，回到过去你还是会选择这个角色吗？
我觉得自己可能会不知所措，不过这就是我的人生，所以我不能想象如果没有选择这个角色会怎样。如果没有《哈利•波特》，我无法想象自己的人生会是什么样子。
赫敏因为罗恩心烦意乱，因为他吃醋，你与鲁伯特已经是老朋友了，这些情节的拍摄对你们关系有影响吗？
如果你认识鲁伯特就会知道他是一个很随意的人，表演的时候他很放松。所以这对我们的关系完全没有影响。
当你回想起这一集影片拍摄的时候，让你印象最深刻的是什么？
当我回头看拍摄片段的时候才发现罗恩参加魁地奇比赛的那段很搞笑。鲁伯特真的很有喜剧天赋，表演很到位，拿捏的很好。杰西•卡夫在片中饰演拉文达•布朗，我们相处很好，玩的很高兴，剧中有一个情节是赫敏和拉文达为了罗恩勾心斗角，在拍摄时我们都很开心。
鲁伯特这一集里第一次参加吻戏的拍摄，你们为此跟他开过玩笑吗？
没有，他是很放松的人，所以在拍摄时感觉没有那么尴尬，也许他是很尴尬但没有表现出来。他是个很可爱的男生，我当然不会为此跟他开玩笑。
《哈利•波特》系列电影前两集的导演是克里斯•哥伦布，后来的三、四、五集的导演换成了大卫•耶茨，他也会执导其余的这一系列电影。对于导演的更换，你认为有什么不同？
每次与新导演合作对我们来说都是学习的好机会。大卫是一位很棒的导演，他的导演也让影片取得了巨大成功，与他相处一段时间后你就会很信赖他，也有机会在表演时增加些新尝试。
可以更大胆地尝试角色。每部影片都有所不同，这对我来说也是一项挑战。
你在读《哈利•波特与死圣》时是怎样的反应？
说实话，我感觉很激动。我觉得罗琳写的太棒了，结尾很精彩。我哭了3次。她把所有事情都很完美的结合到一起。
故事结局是怎样的？你会扮演完结篇中长大的赫敏吗？
是的，我会很愿意继续扮演这个角色。不过自己扮演成年人也许会感觉有点奇怪。
你认为罗琳会写另一本哈利•波特系列小说吗？
我真的不知道，不知道她是怎样想的。不过我觉得短期内应该不会，她需要一段时间休息，不过也许她会写呢，一切都不是确定的。
你认为粉丝们会喜欢这一集电影吗？
我希望是，我们尽量保持故事情节的紧凑，但电影又限制在一定时长内，不会让大家感觉很长。
《哈利•波特》系列电影完成拍摄后，你有什么打算或者是希望？
现在上大学让我感觉更兴奋。我现在还很年轻，一切都是有可能的，所以我还有很多选择。
