ZHANG Jianchang has always said that “this open-type agriculture needs to become more widespread.” The challenge is how to attain cohesion between small-scale production and an ever changing international market? He adopted the organizational form of “corporation-based-farming”, and employed various methods such as orders, contracts and joint-stock cooperation, which led 28,000 farmers to establish more than 80,000 Chinese acres of vegetables fields. Now the annual export of the company is more than 60 million yuan. In order to increase the international competitiveness of the products, ZHANG Jianchang has already applied “date back management” to them. Computer management will be applied and the whole process, from products’ production to sales, will be monitored. The traditional mode of production will see new changes. At the company’s production base which contains 13 farm fields and covers an area of 2000 Mu, it will take the lead to install dozens of agricultural production cameras. The production of agricultural products will be videotaped during the entire process. The farmers will gradually become “digital farmers”.
